Ganz EEG supplies turbines for Russian small hydro plant

14 April 2020

Ganz EEG Kft has supplied three Kaplan turbines each with a capacity of 1.825MW to RusHydro for installation at a small hydropower plant in Stavropol Krai.

This is the second order in the last two years which Ganz has fulfilled for RusHydro. In 2018 it supplied 2x2.9MW turbines as part of a project to develop small hydropower in the Caucasus part of Russia.

The new turbines supplied at the beginning of April have a head of 12/5m, flow rate of 16m3/sec and efficiency of 91.75%. The runners have a diameter of 1.8m and the weight of each turbine is 22 tons.

“Due to the demand for renewable energy and the ecological advantages of small hydropower we expect a constant interest towards this kind of equipment in the coming decades,” commented Oleg Russkikh, managing director of Ganz EEG Kft.

Ganz EEG Kft is a subsidiary of the mechanical engineering division of ROSATOM – Atomenergomash.
