Hyder highlights need for UK flood strategy

The panel of hydrologists, insurers, local authorities officials and urban development specialists have called for the strategic flood and water management plan.

They added that building lanners and developers had to be made to ensure that homes in flood risk areas can withstand influxes of water.

A perceived chronic lack of funds for flood risk assessment and water management was a key factor in making the problem worse, the panel added.
