Scope of supply is to include three 60MW Francis turbine generators, which are to be manufactured at GEHA’s Hangzhou, China-based facility, as well as valves, spare parts and overall supervision of work as the new units are put in place.
Delivery of equipment is to take place between May 2005 and May 2006. According to GE, the first unit is to begin generating electricity in September 2006, while the remaining two will follow in December 2006 and March 2007.
The contract was awarded by the Chengdu Hydroelectric Investigation and Design Institute of State Power Corporation (CHIDI). The owner of the new Liuhong plant is the Sichuan Meigu River Hydropower Development Ltd, which is comprised of the China Hydroelectric Engineering Consulting Co, the China Sino Hydro Corporation, the China Power Engineering Consulting Corp and CHIDI.
Liuhong will be the first hydroelectric plant built on the Meigu river, but is to be followed by the installation of four more hydro stations totalling some 457MW in generating capacity.
