India aims for 1500MW more

India’s National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) plans to begin construction of three new projects with a combined capacity of 900MW during the current five-year plan.

The new projects are Chamera stage 2 (300MW) in Himachal Pradesh, Teresta stage 5 (510MW) in Sikkim and Loktak Downstream (90MW) in Manipur.

NHPC is already working on projects with a total capacity of 730MW.
