Danail Tafrov, executive director of Bulgaria's state National Electricity Company(NEC), says that it is seeking investors for a US$74M modernisation of the 1619MW Jadenitsa project at Belmeken Sestrimo.

Jadenitsa includes the 864MW Chaira pumped storage plant, some 150km south of Sofia. Another project, Tsankov Kamak, estimated to cost US$50M, includes building a 100MW power station and a dam.

NEC is also seeking a third strategic investor for its joint venture with Turkey's Ceylan Holding to build three hydro power stations at Gorna Arda, in the southern Rhodope mountains. The total capacity of the Gorna Arda project will be 170MW.
