Kier International wins tailings contract

4 July 2002

KIER INTERNATIONAL, PART OF the Keir Group, has been awarded a US$1.4M contract for the Kennecott Utah Copper Corporation in a joint venture with CCC Group.

Kier International will be responsible for maintaining a cyclone station and tailings reservoirs, to which waste material suspended in water, is transported during the process of refining copper. From the reservoirs, it is then pumped to the cyclone station, which removes suspended waste from the water. The maintenance is required on a 24-hour basis.

See links below for a report on the Tailings Dams 2002 conference, held from 29 April to 1 May 2002 in Las Vegas, US.
