Lahmeyer and MHI to work on Nepal’s first pumped storage project

28 July 2015

Lahmeyer International, in association with Manitoba Hydro International (MHI) as subconsultant, has been engaged by Tanahu Hydropower Limited to provide engineering services for Nepal's first pumped storage plant.

The 140MW Tanahu project is to be located on the Seti River and will feature a 140m high gravity dam.

Lahmeyer's services on the project are being financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). In the first year, these services will comprise a review of the tender design and documents, followed by the award of the construction contracts. During the six year construction period, Lahmeyer will also supervise construction and commissioning of the project, and assign hydropower experts to provide assistance during the operation of the plant over the next five years.
