Hydropower sites with the potential to generate 200MW combined have been identified in the Malaysian state of Sabah, following a number of hydrological studies carried out by the Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB).

The sites could be developed over the next 10 years depending on further planning and environmental studies.

The state has significant hydropower potential, but so far hydropower only makes up 6% of its generation mix. This number is much higher in other parts of Malaysia, such as Sarawak, where hydro makes up 69% of the power mix.
