Corporation Hydro Energi-Que (CHE-Q) has announced that it has signed an agreement with the government of Guyana to develop and commission a 45MW hydro station on the Potari river.
The station, to be called Tumatumari, will cost around C$75M to complete, and will be financed by the ‘build, own, operate’ route. The power produced will be sold to the Omai gold mine, which is operated by Canadian mining companies and the Guyanan government.
CHE-Q is a joint venture of Hydro-Québec International and a group of independent power producers based in Quebec — the Fonds de Solidarite des Travailleurs du #Quebec, Boralex, Hydro-Mechanique Construction andthe Solidarity Fund.
The joint venture undertakes power projects up to 45MW capacity.
