New turbines for Itaipu

The Paraguayan government has allocated US$29M as its contribution for the installation of two new turbines at Itaipu. The new additions to the bi-national (Brazil-Paraguay) hydroelectric project on the Parana river are estimated to cost a total of US$190M. The cost includes construction of the civil works, procurement and the installation of equipment.

The project is to be undertaken by the Ceitaipu group, the consortium that presented the sole offer in the public tender called by Itaipu project managers.

The Ceitaipu consortium includes ABB, alstom Ener-gia, Siemens, Voith, Ivai, Cesbe, UTC Engenharia, Techint and EBE.
