NHPC exploring hydro, solar projects in Ladakh

NHPC Ltd in India is looking at ways to move forward with the development of hydropower and solar power projects in the Union Territory of Ladakh

Shri A.K. Singh, CMD, NHPC along with Shri R.K. Mathur, the Hon’ble Lt. Governor of UT of Ladakh recently held a meeting to discuss the future plans of NHPC to develop the Khalsi (80MW), Kanyunche (45MW) and Takmaching (30MW) hydropower projects in Ladakh along with a solar power project of 50MW capacity at Phyang. 

They also explored the possibility of integrating hydropower and solar projects in the region.

During the meeting the Hon’ble Lt. Governor encouraged NHPC to carry out in-depth analysis of the techno-commercial viability of the future projects, while assuring full support from Ladakh to facilitate expeditious development of the power projects if viable.
