Plans for hydro project in Sichuan, Tibet approved

China has approved plans for a 2000MW hydropower project in Sichuan and Tibet, Reuters has reported.

The newswire said that the state planning department has approved the plans for the Lawa project on the Jinsha River, which is expected to require a total investment of $4.6 billion.

The project will be majority owned by Huadian Group Co Ltd.
