Ralco to generate an extra 120MW

14 December 2004

Reformulation of plant capacity was made possible by altering the specifications of the equipment installed, efficiently optimising the technical scope of the generation units and the regulation of reservoir water.

The facility, which started operating in September 2004, had been initially authorised to generate at a flow rate of 368m3/sec, but will instead generate at 453m3/sec.

Owners Endesa Chile have invested US$570M in Ralco, which is the largest hydro project in Chile and will provide around 10% of the country's electricity requirements.
