14 April 2016

A second 333MW unit at the Ingula pumped storage project in South Africa was synchronized to the grid in late March, developer Eskom has announced.

All four units at the 1332MW project are expected to come online by July 2017.

"This accelerated drive to complete our massive capacity expansion programme is aimed at ensuring that we realise our aspiration of making load shedding a distant memory," Eskom's CEO Brian Molefe said.
