SN Power downscales Vietnam operations

4 December 2014

SN Power has closed its office in Vietnam, with company CEO Torger Lien stating that it had not been able to identify suitable investments in the country within the current regulatory environment.

The company has been operating in Vietnam for four years. In a statement it said that it will continue to monitor the energy market in the country, and may re-enter at a later stage should the commercial conditions change.

Earlier this year the company announced its intention to become a long term investor in neighbouring Laos. In September it took over the 20% shareholding in the 500MW Theun Hinboun Hydropower Company from Statkraft.
