Three Gorges unit enters second test phase

The unit is now being connected to the grid for a second operational testing phase to last 30 days. With a current headwater level of 135m, the unit is able to operate at a capacity of 560MW.

After the end of the rainy period in October, when the headwater level is expected to exceed 138m, the unit will be able to run at a minimum of 580MW, says Voith Siemens Hydro.
