Toshiba to equip Malea plant, Indonesia

Toshiba is to supply generating equipment to the Malea hydropower plant in South Sulawesi, Indonesia in a contract awarded by Kalla Group subsidiary PT Malea Energy.

Deliveries of the high head, high rotational speed equipment will start in 2018, with the plant scheduled to start commercial operation in 2020.

The Indonesian government has an aggressive power supply development plan to add 35GW in installed capacity over the next five years, and the new plant will contribute to reaching this target.
