Two new hydro plants for Sri Lanka

One plant awarded is Way Ganga with the complete electro-mechanical hydro power plant equipment, including three Francis spiral turbines with an output of 3MW each at a head of 58m. The contract was awarded by DIDUL (pvt) of Sri Lanka.

Another agreement was signed between voith-siemens Hydro Power Generation and Zyney Power Company Erathna of Sri Lanka for a plant whose complete equipment includes two Pelton turbines with an output of 5.2MW each at a head of 450m. Customer is.

Construction on both plants has already begun, commissioning for both is scheduled for the end of 2003.

These orders in small hydro show the success of Voith Siemens Hydro's lately intensified efforts for increased market presence in this country.
