US$42.3M supply contract for Austrian plant

4 July 2006

The US$42.3M contract was awarded by Verbund-Austrian Hydro Power AG.

The new plant will be an extension of the existing Kaprun hydro power complex. Limberg II will more than double currently installed capacity in the plants and will supply around 10% of electricity to Austria’s grid during peak demand times. Both units of the plant will mainly be operated as a balance to ensure safe and stable grid operation.

The first unit will be commissioned towards the end of 2011.
