Venezuelan contract for GE Hydro

ge-hydro has been awarded a contract valued at US$50M, from CVG Electrificatión del Caroní (EDELCA) for the refurbishment of five of the ten 700MW turbines at Guri power station on the Caroní river in Venezuela.

Final contract negotiations, including an option to refurbish the second five machines, are ongoing and signing will take place in late October with a financing agreement completed before the middle of December.

The original turbines at the Guri plant were supplied by Hitachi of Japan, who will have a role in the site work during refurbishment.
