Verbund considers station sales as VA Tech pockets profit

Verbund of Austria is considering the sale of two of its hydroelectric power stations to a US power generator.

The decision to sell the two hydroelectric plants could be made by October with the sale worth as much as US$62.8M, according to company sources.

Meanwhile fellow Austrian company, VA Technologie, has returned to profit in the second quarter of 2000 due to higher revenue from hydroelectric engineering work and from the sale of shares. va-tech posted a profit for the first time in five quarters as growth at a hydroelectric power engineering unit bought from Sulzer boosted the bottom line.
