13 February 2001

Statkraft of Norway has contracted with voith-siemens Hydro Power Generation for the mechanical works of the Bjølvo power station. The scope of supply consists of two high head Pelton turbines, as well as shut-off valves and a cooling water system. The contract was signed on 12 December 2001 and provisional operation is scheduled for June 2003. The project, which is owned by the government of Norway, is located in the west of Norway in Hordaland, close to the city of Bergen. The station’s tailwater flows in to the Hardanger-fjord, the surroundings of which are well known for their characteristic rugged mountains, remoteness and corresponding low population density.
