Voith Siemens will supply two vertical Francis turbines with an output of 59.3MW each, plus butterfly valves, turbine governor system, two generators at 65MVA each, transformers, medium and high voltage switchyards as well as the automation system for the turnkey project.
The Dalaman Akköprü hydroelectric power plant, located in southwest Turkey, will provide flood protection for the regional industries, Dalaman airport, and several tourists’ resorts, while assuring electricity supply for the entire region.
The project is to be connected to the national grid in 2008 to generate 343GWh annually.
Electricity shortages have become a major issue in Turkey as a whole for some time now. In order to address this problem, the Turkish government has started building hydro power plants in various parts of the country.
