Voith wins contract for La Muela II PS project

18 July 2008

Under the Euro36M (US$57M) contract, Voith will supply four reversible 213MW pump turbines and associated spherical valves for the plant, which is to be commissioned in 2012.

La Muela II is being built on the river Jucar and is an extension to the La Muela pumped storage station built in the 1980s.

Voith commented that the project would help meet power needs and also assist in stabilising the transmission network due to the volatility introduced to the grid by the significant number of new wind turbines being built.
