In the November print issue we are running one of our special industry roundtable features that will take an in depth look at the public perceptions of hydropower. We would like to invite our readers to participate in the article and would value your brief thoughts and opinions about this.
We are interested in your own/your company’s thoughts on the subject, along with any case studies of hydropower projects/activities you have been involved with.
QUESTIONS:
- What do you think the public perception of hydropower is?
- Do you think that such perception has changed over recent years? How and why? What factors may have influenced this?
- Do you think that public perceptions of hydropower vary in different geographical locations? And in developed or developing countries? If so why?
- Today’s society enables the rapid communication of information via the internet, social media etc. Do you think that this has helped to shape public perceptions of hydropower? Is this a good or bad thing?
- Are such perceptions important to your company?
- Do you monitor public perception in polls etc? If so why? And how do you use this information?
- Do you try to influence public perception in a positive way through advertising, PR, conveying informative messages to affected people etc?
- Do you think that public perception varies between the different forms of hydropower? Eg between wave/tidal power, small hydro, pumped storage etc? Or do you not think that the public makes such distinction?
- Any other comments you would like to make?
