WPS to begin upgrades at Wausau hydroelectric dam

17 April 2019

Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) in the US is to start refurbishment work at its Wausau hydroelectric dam in May, with a drawdown of the facility's reservoir to start later this month.

The project includes the installation of three new gates and a new gate heater for winter operation. There will also be improvements to the dam's concrete piers and upgrades to the dam's electrical system.

The upgrades are expected to be finished by the end of this year.
