26 October 2016

Work is set to continue on the Tokwe-Mukorsi dam in Zimbabwe after the country’s government released US$20.3 million for use towards project completion.

The funds were released to the Infrastructure Development Bank of Zimbabwe (IDBZ ) and are in addition to US$75million Treasury Bills availed by the Government to clear outstanding arrears.

Earlier in the year, the IDBZ paid US$18.4 million in arrears to contractor Salini Impregilo JV, who has now been engaged to fully re-mobilize and complete outstanding works before the onset of the rainy season.

Tokwe – Mukorsi Dam is expected to be able to impound water starting from the 2016/17 rainy season.
