ZRA awards Kariba dam spillway rehabilitation contract

A consortium of GE Hydro France and Freyssinet International has been awarded the tender for the rehabilitation of the spillway at Kariba Dam on the Zambezi river basin between Zambia and Zimbabwe.

According to reports from ESI Africa, the tender was awarded by the Zambezi River Authority (ZRA), with the spillway expected to be refurbished over a four year period, with completion scheduled in 2023.

The spillway refurbishment is a major part of the Kariba Dam Rehabilitation Project.
