The third unit of the 330MW Kishanganga hydroelectric project in Jammu & Kashmir, India, has been commissioned, marking full commissioning of the 3x110MW units at the project.

NHPC confirmed the third unit was successfully synchronised with the grid and achieved its rated full load at 23:58 Hrs on 30 March. The first and second units were commissioned on 13 and 21 March  respectively.

The Kishanganga project involves diverting water from the Kishanganga River to an underground powerhouse through a 23.25km long headrace tunnel to generate 1713 million units per annum.
