In February 2009, an Expression of Interest (EOI) was issued to six national/international engineering and project management companies. Of the five who responded, Black & Veatch, Hatch Ltd and SNC Lavalin were selected to move forward to the RFP process.
“The Project is reaching a stage where it is necessary to engage external specialists who are experts in various disciplines. The release of the RFP is consistent with Nalcor Energy’s project planning approach and is another step necessary to continue to prepare the Project for the development phase,” said Gilbert Bennett, Vice President, Nalcor Energy – Lower Churchill Project. “These three companies are specialists in the engineering and construction of major hydroelectric and transmission projects and will be required to provide details of their benefits plans and commitments in their responses to the RFP.”
Nalcor expects to receive proposals from the companies this fall.
