Seci Energia, part of Italy’s Maccaferri Group, has signed an agreement with Serbia’s Elektroprivreda Srbije for the development of 10 hydroelectric plants on the Drina River, along the border between Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
According to reports from Bloomberg, the plants are expected to cost US$1.1B to develop, and will have a combined installed capacity of more than 300MW. Work is expected to start in 2012.
Once complete, a proportion of the power produced by the new schemes is to be exported to Italy.
