Halcrow Water Power (HWP), part of the Halcrow group, has been appointed as the owner’s engineers for the 68MW Tagoloan II hydro power project in the Philippines. HWP will be working on behalf of the project’s developers, the Tagoloan Hydro Consortium.
Bill Austin, HWP’s managing director said; ‘HWP continues to be at the forefront of private hydro power development in Southeast Asia and we are delighted to have been awarded this project.’ The Tagoloan II hydro project in Mindanao is the second privately developed scheme in the Philippines with which HWP has been involved. The first, Bakun AC project in Luzon, is currently under construction (see article on pp30-31 of this issue). Both projects involve significant tunnelling, high heads and surface power stations.
HWP is also involved in the first privately funded hydro power scheme in Malaysia, the Sungai Kenerong project. The detailed design is currently being prepared for this scheme.
