The second in our annual award series, this year we will accepting project entries that have been successfully placed into operation after March 2007. The scheme must have a total installed capacity of no more than 50MW to qualify for entry.
The winning project will be voted for by readers of International Water Power & Dam Construction, and visitors to our website, www.waterpowermagazine.com, from five shortlisted schemes.
If you would like to nominate a hydro project, please send a maximum of 500 words describing the facility to the editor via email carrieannstocks@globaltrademedia.com, including details of the following:
• Brief description of the project, including type of scheme, location, project infrastructure, ownership etc.
• Benefits of the project (eg. access to power, contribution to the community, recreational benefits etc).
• Impact on the environment and details of any impact assessments.
• Any unusual features.
• Photographs of the project (2-3 to be sent in jpeg or tiff format).
Nominations should reach the editor by 10 May 2010. Shortlisted schemes will then be featured in the July issue of IWP&DC, with the winner announced in the October issue. The winning scheme will then be the focus of an in-depth feature in our December issue.
Our first small hydro award saw some interesting and innovative entries, and was won by the Canedo hydro project in Portugal. Details on this scheme can be found in the Canedo project section on www.waterpowermagazine.com.
