Construction work will start in July on the 2100MW Stigler’s Gorge hydropower project on the Rufiji River in Tanzania, it has been reported.
Minister for Energy Dr Medard Kalemani has reportedly confirmed that the project build will start in the summer and be completed over 36 months.
Once complete, the project will be the largest hydropower scheme in the country and help diversify Tanzania’s energy mix while more than doubling its power capacity.
