Studio Pietrangeli has been awarded a consultancy contract for the proposed Lehnmesi hydropower project in Pohnpei, marking its first assignment in the Federated States of Micronesia.

The work forms part of the Clean Energy Project and will assess hydropower development options along the Lehnmesi River, with the aim of increasing renewable electricity generation and reducing fossil fuel use.

The consultancy covers a full feasibility study, preparation of bidding documents and support throughout the procurement process.

During an initial visit to Pohnpei, the company’s team met the FSM Department of Resources and Development and other stakeholders, presented preliminary findings and inspected sites identified for the project alternatives.

The team also carried out geological, geomechanical and topographical surveys to characterise the sites and support assessment of the proposed options.
