Heavy flooding in the UK during October and November 2000 has raised many questions about the state of the country’s river system.
Osman Goring took the photographs below of watercourses in the Stroud Valley in Gloucestershire. He argues that if the country’s estimated 20,000 watermill sites were developed for hydro power then rivers will be well cared for, free of litter and debris, and much less prone to flooding.
