BRAZIL’S GRUPO TRIUNFO and its partners are investing US$177M in three hydroelectric project concessions in Parana and Goias states. Triunfo will channel its investment through its subsidiary, Triunfo Participacoes e Investimentos.

The first project, already under construction in Parana, was awarded in June 2001 by Aneel, th e organisation that oversees Brazil’s power industry. The concession involves the construction of two hydro plants, Fundao and Santa Clara. The two plants, each with a capacity of 119MW, are located 15km apart on the Jordao river in Parana state. The first is expected to begin operations in two years.

Plans for the other two concessions, awarded by Aneel earlier this year, are still being developed. They envisage construction of two plants on the Verde river near Cacu in Goias state, with total installed capacity of 201MW.
