Ukrhydroenergo and Ukrainian Energy Machines have signed a contract for the supply of hydro turbine equipment.
The contract was awarded following an international competitive bidding process under the Ukraine – Improving Power System Resilience for European Power Grid Integration (Installation of Hybrid Systems for Electricity Production in Ukrhydroenergo) project. The project is financed by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development of the World Bank Group.
According to Ukrhydroenergo, the agreement forms part of its ongoing strategy to cooperate with domestic manufacturers while utilising loan financing to support the development of Ukraine’s energy sector during wartime conditions.
“For us, cooperation with Ukrainian manufacturers is synonymous with reliable partnerships, jobs for Ukrainian specialists, taxes paid to the state budget, and quality equipment at our facilities. We would like to thank our long-standing partners, Ukrainian Energy Machines, for their commitment to joint projects aimed at strengthening power generation” said Interim Director General of Ukrhydroenergo Bogdan Sukhetskyi. “We also thank the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development for the trust and loan financing. With this support, we can quickly respond to challenges, use resources efficiently, and regularly update and refurbish equipment, thus improving the reliability of hydropower plants”.
Viktor Subotin, CEO of JSC Ukrainian Energy Machines, described the agreement as strategically important for the company.
“This cooperation is of strategic importance for the joint-stock company Ukrainian Energy Machines. In the current conditions, every energy project implemented in Ukraine contributes to strengthening the state, increasing the stability of the energy system, and bringing it closer to European standards of operation. We are convinced that the development of Ukrainian power generation should be based on the potential of domestic machine building,” he said.
