Construction of the Vale do Leite hydroelectric plant in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, has reached 53% completion, according to project developer Certel.
The 6.4MW plant is being built on the Forqueta River between the municipalities of Pouso Novo and Coqueiro Baixo. Certel said construction remains on schedule.
Work has reached the river diversion stage, with the Forqueta being routed through diversion sluices to allow construction of the main dam to begin. Installation of the generating units and principal electromechanical equipment will also take place during this phase.
More than 170 people are currently involved in the project, with construction being carried out in accordance with environmental and occupational safety requirements.
Vale do Leite will become Certel’s fifth hydroelectric plant. The cooperative announced the start of construction in August 2025.
