Valmet Oyj will supply automation systems for Daklo 1-3 Power Company Limited’s Daklo 1 and Daklo 3 hydropower plants under construction in Kon Plong Ward, Quang Ngai Province, Vietnam.
The order was placed by Industries Equipment and Solution Company Ltd (IESC), Valmet’s local partner, which has signed a contract with the project’s EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contractor to deliver the systems. The automation solution will control and monitor core hydropower processes to support safe, reliable, and high-performance electricity generation. According to Valmet, the system is designed to optimise water balance and improve energy and operational efficiency.
“We chose Valmet because of its strong reputation and proven expertise in automation for hydropower projects. The solution ensures long-term reliability and efficiency through robust performance, complemented by competitive pricing. Valmet’s local lifecycle support and collaborative approach with our EPC partner gave us confidence in a successful implementation,” said Nguyen Viet Cuong, Deputy Director of IESC.
“We are proud to deliver Valmet’s distributed control systems (DCS) for Daklo hydropower plants. This project demonstrates Valmet’s commitment to Vietnam’s renewable energy sector, particularly hydropower, by providing advanced automation solutions and strong local partnerships. Through close collaboration, we ensure long-term lifecycle support and operational excellence for the customer,” added Huynh Quang Tuyen, Sales Manager, Automation Solutions business area, Valmet.
Daklo 1 and Daklo 3 are run-of-river hydropower plants with planned capacities of 12MW and 22MW, respectively. Once completed, the projects are expected to contribute renewable electricity to Vietnam’s national grid and support regional energy supply. Commercial operation is scheduled to begin in spring 2027.
The order is included in Valmet’s fourth-quarter 2025 order intake. The contract value has not been disclosed. System deliveries are scheduled to be handed over to the customer with Daklo 1 at the end of 2026 and Daklo 3 in spring 2027.
Valmet’s delivery includes distributed control systems and electric governor controls for both plants. The scope also covers engineering, design, supply, and commissioning of the automation system to support plant operation.
