In response to an IWP&DC story posted on the website on 2 February 2001 (Contaminated lagoon devastates UK river), a reader replies: Perhaps the engineers should consider constructing an additional lagoon and sealing the sides and base with dense asphaltic concrete, which is completely impermeable. The contaminated material can then be pumped from the first lagoon into this completely sealed unit until it has been decided what the final outcome of the disposal alternatives are.
