Construction debt paid off for 14GW Itaipu hydroelectric project

Itaipu Binancional has paid the final instalment of construction debt for the 14GW Itaipu hydroelectric project, bringing it's almost 50-year financial commitment to build the bi-national hydroelectric project on the Paraná River between Brazil and Paraguay to an end, Bnamericas has reported.
GE to refurbish two more units at Mangla plant, Pakistan

GE has been selected by the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) to refurbish two hydropower units (9 & 10) at the Mangla hydropower plant in Pakistan as part of a project that will increase the plant’s capacity by 280MW.

Costs updated for Lower Churchill project

The total forecasted project cost for the Lower Churchill Project is set to increase from C$13.11 billion to C$13.37 billion, Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro has confirmed, stating that it will not need any equity from the province and will cover the increase through internal funding sources.The company has also shared an update on the development of software required to complete the Labrador Island Link (LIL) portion of the project.
