Contracts awarded for Diamer Basha dam

The Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) has awarded a contract valued at around Rs. 442 Billion (US$5.8 billion) to a joint venture of Power China-FWO for the construction of the diversion system, main dam, and access bridge for the 4500MW Diamer Bhasa dam, as well as the 21MW Tangir hydropower project.

Alan J Krause named president and CEO of MWH Global

MWH Global has announced that its board of directors unanimously elected Alan J. Krause as president and chief executive officer of the company. Krause, formerly president and chief operating officer of MWH, immediately succeeds Robert B Uhler in the CEO role in a planned transition announced in early 2011. At the same board meeting, Uhler was elected executive chairman of the global wet infrastructure-focused company.

MWH to provide engineering services for Alaskan Railbelt hydro studies

The Alaska Energy Authority (AEA) has awarded MWH a two to five-year contract for hydropower engineering services to support the evaluation and development of hydropower projects along the Alaska Railbelt electrical grid. The potential projects under consideration would be a key component to help achieve the state’s goal of producing 50% of electrical power from renewable sources by 2025.
