ANDRITZ has signed a new contract with the Entidad Binacional Yacyretá (EBY), the binational organisation that operates the Yacyretá hydropower plant, one of the largest in South America with an installed capacity of 3200MW.
The agreement covers the rehabilitation of four generators, the supply of new stator windings, and on-site field services, ANDRITZ said in a statement on LinkedIn. The project is part of ANDRITZ’s ongoing efforts to support reliable and efficient energy generation across the region.
“The relationship between ANDRITZ and Yacyretá has been built over the years, and this new contract stands as the largest ever secured by ANDRITZ Hydropower Brazil’s Service division,” said Vinicius Martinelli, Head of Sales for Service & Rehabilitation in Brazil.
The Yacyretá Hydropower Plant is located on the Paraná River between Argentina and Paraguay. Commissioned in the 1990s, the facility plays a key role in supplying renewable energy to both countries. The Entidad Binacional Yacyretá (EBY) was created under a 1973 treaty between Argentina and Paraguay to manage the construction, operation, and maintenance of the dam. ANDRITZ has previously provided equipment and services for the facility, and this new contract expands on that long-term partnership.
Last month, ADRITZ announced it had been awarded a contract by Compagnia Valdostana delle Acque (CVA) to rehabilitate the Valpelline hydropower plant in Italy’s Aosta Valley. The contract, valued in the mid double-digit million-euro range, is included in ANDRITZ’s order intake for the third quarter of 2025.
