International technology group ANDRITZ has secured an order from Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) to supply equipment for the Gandikota pumped storage plant in Andhra Pradesh, India.
The 1800MW facility, located in YSR Kadapa district, is part of India’s efforts to expand pumped storage capacity to stabilize the power grid as more solar and wind energy are added.
Under the contract, ANDRITZ will provide reversible pump turbines, motor-generators, and other electromechanical equipment for Gandikota. Its scope also includes design, manufacturing, installation, testing, and commissioning. The work will use ANDRITZ’s Indian production facilities with support from its global network.
The contract value is in the low three-digit million-euro range and will be booked in the company’s second-quarter 2025 order intake.
This is the third order AGEL has awarded to ANDRITZ, following earlier contracts for the 500MW Chitravathi project in 2023 and the 1500MW Tarali project in 2025. ANDRITZ is currently working on five pumped storage projects in India.
