The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) has awarded ANDRITZ a contract to modernise the Rajjaprabha hydropower plant in Surat Thani Province.
The project covers the refurbishment of all three 80MW generating units. ANDRITZ says the order, valued in the mid double-digit million-euro range, will be included in its order intake for the third quarter of 2025.
The Rajjaprabha plant, located on the Saeng River in Ban Ta Khun district, has been in operation since 1987. The work includes modernisation of Units 1–3, generator and specified turbine components, and installation supervision, testing, and commissioning.
EGAT operates more than 50 power plants nationwide with over 16,000MW of installed capacity. The utility recently awarded ANDRITZ another major modernization contract for the Srinagarind hydropower plant.
ANDRITZ has been active in Thailand for more than 50 years and says it has contributed to nearly half of the country’s hydropower capacity through new installations and upgrade projects. The company described the latest award as “another milestone in the long-standing cooperation with EGAT” and said it strengthens its position in Thailand’s hydropower sector while supporting the country’s renewable energy goals.
