The studies are set to focus on 10 projects, seven small hydroelectric plants (totalling 146MW) and three larger plants in Minas Gerais (totalling 184.5MW).

Energias do Brazil is a holding company that generates, sells and distributes electricity in Brazil, and the company itself is owned by Portugal’s EDP. Its distribution companies provide electricity for 3M customers, located in 171 municipal areas with a combined total population of 10M.

The opening of the Peixe Angical dam in 2006, as well as the fourth generator at the Mascaranhsa plant and the small hydroelectric plant of Sao Joao, takes Energias do Brazil’s generation assets to a capacity of 1043MW and, with 10 possible new projects in the pipeline, this figure could increase.
