After shelving the Kalabagh dam project, the government of Pakistan has initiated work, on a priority basis, on four short term hydro power projects. They are set be completed in three to four years, official sources in Lahore said.
The 96MW Jinnah project will be completed on the Indus river while another 80MW hydro power project will be completed in Malakand. According to Ministry of Water and Power sources, the New Bong and UJC hydro power projects will be completed on the Jhelum river near Mangla with 45MW and 97MW of power respectively.
