Over US$31M will be invested in the Mangla dam raising project, with work expected to begin towards the end of this month. The figures were announced at a meeting in Pakistan this week attended by Tariq Hamid, chairman of the country’s Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA).

The meeting heard that the Ghazi Barotha scheme had to date made over US$374M for WAPDA. It also reviewed progress on the Gomal Zam dam, Sabakzai dam, Kurrum Tangi dam, Mirani dam, Hub dam, Akhori dam and the Khwar hydro power projects.

Hamid urged project managers to clear up all pending issues during the pre-qualification process in order to avoid delays in executing the projects.
