Vattenfall has announced that Lovisa Fricot Norén will become the new Vice President of BU Hydro and CEO of Vattenfall Vattenkraft AB, effective June 1. She most recently served as head of Vattenfall Värme in Sweden.
“I would like to warmly welcome Lovisa as the new CEO of Vattenfall’s Nordic hydropower. With her background from Vattenfall Värme, a long career in the energy industry, and her leadership, she has the competence required to successfully lead our important work with hydropower. Hydropower is the backbone of today’s and future Swedish electricity production,” said Johan Dasht, chairman of the board of Vattenfall Vattenkraft AB and head of the business area BA Generation.
Dasht also acknowledged the work of the interim leader: “I would also like to take this opportunity to extend a big thank you to Tord Eriksson, who has taken on the role of acting head of BU Hydro since November 2024.”
“I feel grateful for the trust and am both proud and humble about the new assignment to continue the work of managing and developing the important role of fossil-free hydropower,” said Fricot Norén. “I look forward to working together with all new colleagues and partners.”
Jens Storm, currently VP of Business Control at BA Customers & Solutions, will serve as acting head of Värme Sweden. Tord Eriksson will return to his previous role as production manager for hydropower on June 1.
Vattenfall’s hydropower operations have a total installed capacity of approximately 8500 MW in Sweden. Nationwide, hydropower capacity stands at around 16,000 MW, with annual production reaching about 65 TWh in a typical year.
